"Hey Kayla?" he said looking at her. She glanced at him then back at the road and turned the radio off.
"Yea?" she asked.
"Um," he paused a moment. "I would like to fly again," he said quietly. She looked at him.
"Ok, where?" she asked. He shrugged.
"Anywhere," he said.
"Alright, tonight, we can drive somewhere that isn't lit up 24/7 and you can fly," she said. He smiled as he turned to look out the window again.
"Thanks," he said gratefully. Kayla nodded and glanced at him again, wondering how many times he had flown. A few minutes later she pulled into a parking spot. He looked around.
"Here we are, time to go shopping," she said unbuckling, Jaedon watched her movements and copied hers in unbuckling. They both got out of the car and walked into one of the stores that lined the way.
A couple hours later they went back to the car. Jaedon carried a couple large bags, Kayla had him put them in the trunk and they climbed in.
"Come on, lets get some lunch," she said. While they ate she looked at a map of the state. She tapped her finger on the paper.
"Here will probably be best for you to fly," she said. He leaned over to look at where her finger was.
"How far away?" he asked.
"Fourty-five minutes from my place," she said. He nodded.
"Will there be people around?" he asked. She shrugged.
"I don't know, maybe," she said, starting the car.
They both went back to her apartment for a couple hours. Kayla grabbed some blankets for herself and a couple thermos' of hot chocolate.
"Hey you ready?" she asked. Jaedon looked up from the book and closed it. He stood easily and nodded.
"Alright let's go."
They went to the car and drove off.
Forty-five minutes later they pulled off onto a sandy area, there were woods looming ahead. Kayla looked at Jaedon and saw him grinning.
"Alright lets go!" she said grabbing the stuff from the back seat. He followed her into the forest that was gradually getting darker. After walking in silence for fifteen minutes or so they came out of the woods and into a field with a few hills and trees scattered about.
"There, have fun!" she said. He grinned and took off the sweatshirt and put it on the blanket the Kayla had laid out. He smiled at her and snapped out his wings. He faced the setting sun and jumped into the air. Kayla drew her breath in sharply, he was beautiful in the air. She smiled as she watched him soaring. She shivered as the sun finished setting and a wind picked up. She pulled on the sweatshirt Jaedon had been wearing over the one that she was wearing and wrapped herself in the other blanket. She laid down and looked up at the sky, occasionally she could see Jaedon as he soared above.
The man put down the binoculars and smiled wolfishly. He had found the experiment. He flipped open a cell phone and pressed a button and brought it up to his ear, while raising the binocular's again.
"Hey boss, I found the experiment," he said into the phone.
"Is he reachable?"
"No, he is flying," he paused again.
"Damn it! No!"
"When do you want me to get him?"
"Not yet, is there anyone else around or with him?"
He lowered the binoculars scanning, he frowned when he saw a girl.
"Yea, there is a girl there, I think she is with him, she is watching him,"
"Follow them, but don't get seen, I want to know where she lives,"
"Sure boss,"

He watched the girl and Experiment Nine, occasionally scanning to make sure no one else was around.
Half an hour later Jaedon landed with a rush of air next to her. She looked up with a smile. He was grinning, his hair wind tossed.
"Enjoying yourself?" she asked. He nodded and sat next to her, wings unfolded slightly, Kayla handed him the extra thermos of hot chocolate. He nodded thanks and drank from it. Kayla could feel heat radiating off his wings. He was only breathing slightly heavier than normal. She wished she could fly with him. He looked down at her.
"Do you want to leave now?" he asked. She shrugged.
"Are you done flying?" she asked. He looked up at the sky for a moment, then nodded. He looked around him.
"Are you ok?" she asked also looking around. He nodded. She took off the sweatshirt and handed it to him. He nodded and put it back on.
"Yea, I'm good," he said. "Let's go, I'm sure it's late and it will be later when we get back," he said. Kayla saw him look behind him again. She gathered up the blankets and stood up. He took the blankets from her and started walking back the way they had come.
"Uh, thanks!" she said and hurried to catch up. When they got to the car Kayla looked at him.
"Are you sure you're alright?" she asked. He nodded but scanned around him.
"I just can't shake the feeling of being watched," he said. She frowned and looked around. They got in and Kayla started off. She didn't notice the car pull out a few minutes after her.
