Untitled Pt 4

He looked up and saw her watching him and looked surprised.
"What?" he asked standing up and walking past her to the sink, the tip of his wing grazed her face, she shivered slightly, it was strange feeling. He gently placed the plate in the sink as well then sat back down.
Kayla shrugged.
"You need a name," she said. He frowned slightly.
"Why?" he asked genuinely confused. Kayla looked at him.
"Cause I don't want to be calling you 'guy' or 'dude' or anything, and your name isn't 'Experiment nine' you are a human being," she said slightly irratated, but not at him. He nodded.
"What should it be?" he asked. Kayla frowned and shrugged.
"I have no idea, here, follow me," she said and stood. She went into her bedroom where her computer was.
"Bring the chair," she called over her shoulder. He brought the chair over and sat next her. Kayla moved the mouse and the screen came to life. Within a few key strokes she brought up a web page. Her fingers moved over the keyboard quickly as she typed in different web addresses.
"There," she said and looked at him. He looked back confusedly.
"Baby boy names?" he asked. Kayla nodded.
"Well, we are sorta skipping a step considering you aren't a baby, but you are a guy," Kayla said.
"Here, let's switch, you get controls," she said and stood. He slid into her seat and she took his. He looked at the mouse and keyboard, his hands in his lap.
"Ok, right hand," she tapped his hand. "On this," she said pointing to the mouse. He nodded and did so.
"And when you want to type something, not that you will have to tonight, you uh," she looked at him, not knowing if he could spell or even if he knew the alphabet. He nodded.
"These keys are for writing," he said. She smiled slightly.
"Ok and to scroll down, use the little thing in the middle like this," she demonstrated scrolling down. He nodded.
"And to left or right click press down," she said also demonstrating this. He nodded. She stood and patted his shoulder.
"Looks like you are set, if you find a name you like write it here," she said pulling a peice of paper from the printer and setting it down on the desk with a pen. He nodded again, his dark eyes fixed on the screen.
"I'm gonna go clean up the kitchen," she said. He nodded again wile scrolling down. Kayla shook her head with a smile and left. She grabbed his glass and set it in the sink with the other dishes and turned on the hot water and started washing the dishes, there weren't enough to put in the dishwasher and she liked washing dishes, she liked doing something with her hands as she thought. Twenty or so minutes later she finished drying and putting away all the stuff. She washed down the counters and threw the rag into the sink. Kayla went and leaned against the door way watching the young man. He hadn't written anything down on the paper. She frowned and wondered why. He was at 'E.' She shrugged and went into the spare bedroom. She got some sheets out of the closest and made the bed. She ran her hand along the bureau top, taking off the thin layer of dust. She dusted her hands off and shut off the light. She walked back into her room and took a sketch pad off the nightstand beside her bed and sat down next to the guy.
"How is it coming?" she asked. He looked over at her and shrugged.
"Slowly," he said. She nodded and flipped open her sketch book and drew her legs up. She laid her pencil on the paper and looked at it for a moment then began drawing, starting out slowly and drawing lightly, then gradually getting harder. Twenty minutes or so later she looked up as he moved forward and picked up the pen for the first time.
"What are you writing?" She asked.
"Jaedon," he said.
"What does it mean?" she asked. He shrugged.
"Nothing on here, it is just blank," he said. She frowned and sat forward looking at the page.
"Huh, that is weird," she said. He shrugged.
"I like it," he said and ran his hand over his face.
"Tired?" she asked. He nodded.
"I made the guest bed up, you can have that room," she said. He nodded.
"Thanks," He stood and looked at her drawing. She held it up to her chest.
"Don't look," she said. He smiled slightly. When he smiled Kayla's heart skipped a beat. Stop it! Now. She told herself. She stood also and closed her sketch book and tossed it onto her bed.
"Um, I can check if there are pajamas in the bureau," she said and slipped in front of him and went to the guest bedroom. She flicked the light on and opened the drawers.
"Um, yea no pajamas, sorry," she said. He nodded and shrugged.
"That's fine Kayla," he said. She nodded.
"Ok, um yea, g'night," she said and left the room. He nodded and watched her go.
"Night," he said softly and closed the door. He sat on the end of the bed and looked at the mirror in front of him for a moment. He was unused to seeing his face in the mirror. He extended his wings as far as he could and smiled. He pulled his wings back in and stood up. He took off his shirt, turned off the light and got into bed. He lay there, eyes open staring into the dark. He could hear night life noises outside and murmuring conversation coming from somewhere below him. He rolled over and fell asleep in moments.
